FAQs
Repositories ("repos") are essentially a copy of a software repo that you own on another platform (like Github) and want to distribute on our marketplace. During submission, we'll establish a connection between your Playbooks repo and the host repo that will keep them in sync when you make updates.
Repo submissions are currently limited to users and teams that have been approved by an admin. This way, we can better manage the quality of the marketplace and fine-tune our offering during beta. That said, we will eventually open this up to the broader community and are open to your suggestions in the meantime.
To submit a repository, simply click the 'Submit New' button at the top of the page and then follow the prompts in the page wizard. While working on your repo make sure to save your progress so you can come and go as you please. When you're ready, simply click the 'Submit For Review' button on the final page to notify our team.
Playbooks offers a digital marketplace where developers can buy, sell, and exchange software seamlessly. By submitting a repository, most developers are looking to monetize their expertise by charging a fee per download. That said, there are plenty of free repositories on the marketplace that deliver value and we encourage that too.
In general, we are open to any software repository that fills a gap in the marketplace and other developers will find valuable. That said, we're generally looking for starters, recipes, and templates in the more popular programming languages to start. And, we're looking for quality not quantity so please make sure your submission offers a turnkey solution that meets our Community Guidelines.
Our mission at Playbooks is to build a new developer economy that accelerates our shared productivity through market dynamics. Time is money. And your time is valuable. But, we also think it's important to pay it forward knowing that scale is on your side. As such, we think you should lean conservative when it comes to pricing your repository so more develops can enjoy your work.
Once you submit your repo, our team will receive a notification indicating you are ready for review. Most submissions take less than 24 hours. And, if we have questions, we'll be sure to reach out. When approved, we'll alert you via email and then we'll alert the appropriate members of our community an hour later.

No. You can submit a repository free of charge.
Playbooks takes a 20% commission from every sale you make on our platform and then we distribute another 10% to the Community Fund. So, 30% total. This way, we only make money when you make money and a portion of every sale gets invested back into the community. You can read more about the Community Fund and the how it works via the FAQ page.
Submitting a repository to Playbooks does not guarantee we will publish your work. That said, we generally steer clear of editorial decisions when it comes to repositories and let the marketplace dictate what's popular. We will however remain strict when it comes to our Community and Quality standards so please ensure your work meets those standards before submission.
